Private and Group Tours

Thunderbird Lodge is open year-round for private and group tours.

Car clubs, service organizations, church groups, senior’s centers, large families, wedding parties, non-profit organizations, and government agencies have all enjoyed educational and entertaining visits to Lake Tahoe’s Castle-in-the-Sky.

Peak Season (May – Oct): Private and group 75-minute tours of up to 25 people are offered Tuesday through Saturday subject to availability. $1,500 plus $60 for each additional person over 25.
Off-Peak Season (Nov – Apr): Private and group tours of up to 25 people are offered Monday through Saturday. One hour tour followed by one hour reception of wine, beer, soft beverages and hors d’oeuvres. $2,500 plus $100 for each additional person over 20.

By advance arrangement, private and group tours may arrive on foot or by personal automobile, bicycle, shuttle bus, helicopter, boat, seaplane, or nearly any kind of transport imaginable.

Call (775) 832-8750 to reserve your private or group tour. All tours subject to availability. For private and group tours, children 12 and under are free when accompanied by adult parent or guardian.

  • Reservations are required for all tours. Self-guided tours are not available.
  • Smoking is not permitted in the buildings or on the grounds.
  • Comfortable walking shoes are required and a warm jacket is recommended.

Hands-on History School Tours

For a unique field trip, look no further than the Thunderbird Lodge! Located off Hwy 28, the Donald W. Reynolds Lake Tahoe and Culture Program at Thunderbird Lodge offers a Hands on History Tour. Currently for grades 4th and 5th, with eventual expansion to middle school, the Hands on History Tours for children are interactive, educational and an excellent source of local history.
