Thunderbird Lake Tahoe is home to America’s most recognizable—and possibly most valuable—wooden speedboat, the venerable Thunderbird yacht. Since America’s Great Depression, Thunderbird has transported guests in opulent luxury between high-mountain estates and luxury resorts. While her past is privileged and legendary, her future is uncertain.
Chartering Thunderbird Yacht will help save this iconic vessel for generations to come. Charitable contributions for private cocktail cruises start as low as $5,000. Thunderbird can comfortably carry 16 passengers.
Yacht cruises may be combined with Thunderbird Lake Tahoe’s elegant Dinner-at-the-Castle for a truly memorable evening.
Thunderbird may be seen in her cavernous boathouse (below) carved out of a solid granite hillside on public guided tours Tuesday through Sunday from May through October. Private group tours are available year-round.
Thunderbird Yacht is a historic landmark at-risk. Thunderbird Lake Tahoe receives no government support and is funded entirely by gifts from friends like you. Please help preserve Lake Tahoe’s maritime heritage by joining Thunderbird Lake Tahoe’s Preservation Club or making a charitable donation today.
