Sunday, August 13, 2017 - 5 p.m. This event is open to the Public - $195 per person

Several wineries and the region’s premier resorts team-up to preserve Lake Tahoe’s art and history. Experience California’s finest wines and Tahoe’s tastiest bites offered throughout the grottoes and secret spaces of Captain George Whittell’s Thunderbird Lodge estate. Raffles, prizes, a silent auction, and entertainment will make our themed festival reminiscent of Old World elegance.

VIP YACHT CRUISE, RESERVE WINE TASTING, & DINNER
Tickets - $1000 per person ($750 of which is a charitable contribution)

Join us for a VIP Yacht Cruise on the newly restored Thunderbird prior to any of the four Epicurean Seated Dinner events listed above. In addition to the Winemaker’s Dinner and VIP Tasting Cruise* attendees also receive:

  • Gate pass to “drive on” to the estate at 4 p.m. without taking shuttle bus
  • East shore cruise aboard Thunderbird Yacht
  • Private reserve and library wines paired with culinary treats hosted by select winemakers
  • Special gift bag
  • Access to VIP seating area with our Castle Club and Flagship members
  • Recognition in the winemakers program
  • Arrival back at dock at 5:30 p.m.

*Yacht cruise is contingent on lake level, weather, and conditions. Thunderbird Lake Tahoe reserves the right to reschedule any of the winemaker’s cruises without notice.

Event Details

As our principal fundraising event to preserve Lake Tahoe’s Castle-in-the-Sky and the world famous Thunderbird yacht, Thunderbird Lake Tahoe hosts Winemaker's Dinner Events on the second Sunday of each month from June through October. Tour this National Historic Site with a glass of wine in hand and share in its legacy while strolling magnificent lawns, gardens, and stone terrace vistas.

Fine wine and food intersect as invited chefs work closely with winemakers to create the ultimate pairings. Certain evenings include a lively auction of exclusive items and events, and an opportunity to purchase selected wines.

The price of the Thunderfaire event is $195 per person. ($125 of each ticket is a charitable contribution and may be deductible to the extent permitted by law.) The price of each Epicurean Seated Dinner is $250 per person. ($150 of each ticket is a charitable contribution and may be deductible to the extent permitted by law.) Seating is limited and these events always sell out, so please make reservations early.

To reduce the high cost of credit card fees, Thunderbird prefers payment by check. However, all major credit cards are accepted with the option of including credit card fees as part of your charitable contribution.

Shuttle bus transportation is provided to and from Thunderbird Lodge for all events. Shuttles begin departing from Lake Tahoe School (995 Tahoe Blvd, Incline Village) at 4:30 p.m. Formal dinners are seated at 6 p.m. Food is served continuously at chef’s stations during Thunderfaire events.

By prior arrangement, limited on-site parking may be available first to the mobility impaired. Otherwise, on-site parking is available only to Thunderbird contributors at the Captain’s, Commodore, Admiral, and Castle levels, and those signed up for the VIP Yacht Cruise. Members at Admirals levels or above may arrive by boat and tie up at Thunderbird Cove with prior arrangement. Please phone for special arrival arrangements.

Dinners typically conclude by 9 p.m. Dress is business casual with a coat or wrap recommended as Tahoe evenings can turn chilly. Wear comfortable walking shoes. High heels are not recommended when strolling the uneven stone pathways of Thunderbird Lodge.
