Waterfall RestorationWATERFALL RESTORATION
Fountain and Waterfall

One of the current goals of Thunderbird Lake Tahoe is to raise the funds needed to restore Whittell's fabulous waterfalls.  Frederic DeLongchamps designed this magnificent half-acre water feature to cascade nearly 100 feet from the parking area into a series of ponds and fountains below.  Backlit with a dazzling array of colored lights, the waterfalls and fountains are one of the most distinctive features of the Thunderbird Lodge.  Believed to be constructed by Native American stoneworkers from the Stewart Indian School in Carson City, the water features decomposed and fell silent in 2006.

The Preservation Society needs another $40,000 to stem the leaks and complete the $300,000 restoration project.  We appreciate your donation in any amount.  Please click here to contribute.

To achieve the final $40,000 in preservation funds, the Society is holding a first-of-its-kind raffle drawing for a Thunderbird Yacht Cruise to save the Whittell Waterfalls. “Tickets for the drawing are $100 each,” said Executive Director, Bill Watson. “This is a rare opportunity for the general public to cruise aboard Thunderbird Yacht, a privilege that is usually reserved for our donors at the highest levels.”

Not one, but two raffle tickets will be drawn. A minimum of 100 tickets must be sold for the drawing to take place. No more than 400 entries will be permitted. The two winners will each bring five guests for a “Secrets of the Castle Tour” and an east shore dinner cruise aboard the Thunderbird Yacht.

**Tell your family and friends to get in on the drawing too!**

“Everyone who purchases a ticket is directly contributing to the restoration of the Whittell Waterfalls. You’ll help bring back a piece of Lake Tahoe history,” said Watson.

Click here or call 775-832-8752 to purchase raffle tickets. For tax purposes, raffle tickets have a fair market cash value of $1 each. All ticket donations purchased prior to June 30th will be eligible. Thunderbird Lodge Preservation Society will notify all winners following the July 1st drawing.
