GIFT I.R.A. DISTRIBUTION
Thunderbird Lake Tahoe receives no government support and is funded entirely by gifts from friends like you. If you are aged 70 ½ or older, we can accept a charitable gift as a distribution from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA).
You can enjoy tax savings by making charitable gifts directly from your IRA distribution, thanks to a provision of the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010.
For a charitable gift made from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) not to be taxed as income, the following must be true:
- You make the gift in 2011.
- Your gifts total $100,000 or less.
- Your withdrawal goes directly from your IRA to Thunderbird Preservation Society.
You do not need to itemize your taxes to benefit from such a distribution.
Please consult your tax adviser for information about the specific deductibility of IRA distributions to charity.
To make charitable distribution from your I.R.A. account, please send e-mail to AskUs@ThunderbirdTahoe.org or call (775) 832-8752.
Thunderbird Lake Tahoe is operated by Thunderbird Preservation Society, a 501(c)(3) public charity. Your contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
